Subject:  Jefferson Davis Birthday Commemoration

            For those who can make it, please mark your calendar for Wednesday, 3 June, at 10 a.m.  Camp 2002 (Henry C Semple) and Camp 1524 (Prattville Dragoons) are hosting this year’s Jefferson Davis Birthday Commemoration at the Capitol in Montgomery, Alabama.

            We are planning the Commemoration Program on 3 June, a workday, because that is the only way we can have access to the Capitol Auditorium and other facilities, and because that is the actual date of President Davis’s birthday.

            The program will consist of presentations on Jefferson Davis’s character and life, and will feature excerpts from the Jefferson Davis Bicentennial Video, a recently-issued 3-DVD set that offers a comprehensive look at Jefferson Davis.  Following the program in the auditorium, we will set a wreath at the Jefferson Davis statue in front of the State Capitol.  Refreshments will be available before and after the program.
